To combat the cloudy skies and descending chilly winds, we’ve been sent an assortment of wonderful zines and posters, all of which seem to be made out of the colour of sunshine. This multi-coloured assortment of pinks and blues and subtle purples has been shining and sparkling in the corner of our office, reminding us that the sun will be back again soon. These lovely, summery pair of prints by Katie Rose Johnson really make us want to go on holiday. We love the delicate brush strokes and simple shapes that make up her compositions, and her cheerful colours are evocative of lazy days spent playing with beach balls in the sand. Wonderful water colours that will inspire you to fish out your retro swimsuit and dive straight back into the summer mood.

The images in this wonderful zine look like they’ve fallen straight out of Lux’s bedroom from The Virgin Suicides, or could be decorative artwork for the much-loved Rookie Magazine. Dedicated to plants and flowers, but with a sprinkling of glitter, glazed donuts and Coke cans to shake things up, this is the first issue of a zine published by Alison Baitz, a.k.a Saint Lydia. Alison has certainly sown the seeds for a great series, and we can’t wait to see what will spring up next.

A little blue-eyed skateboarder travels through a neon, pointillist forest in this vibrant and vivid zine, and ends up meeting a spectacular green and pink girl whose body is made of hypnotic illustrations. The pair take a little journey on a boat through an inky sea, and are followed around by a weird blobby figure who oozes smoke from his eye sockets. Nicolas’ booklet even comes with a map, in case you need help navigating the strange lands that are depicted in his amazing, kaleidoscopic illustrations.

Another skateboarding pair in the pages of this big and bright comic by George Heaven, which is all about a boy who never stops grinning and his miraculous dog, whose rigid body means that he can be used as a skateboard. Watch Stan doing kick-flips and ollies with his nonchalant dog: it’s a very odd collection of illustrations, but odd in the very best way possible.

Two Press is a Risograph printing house based in west London, and this is the first issue of their magazine. The publication brings together of all the interesting things that they’ve printed in recent weeks, and even has a section dedicated to explaining Riso techniques. We love the magazine’s warm colours that are evocative of a sunset, and the thoughtful layout of each page.
