University of the Arts London is a specialist creative university with an extensive range of courses in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts. UAL draws together six Colleges each with its own world-class reputation: Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, and Wimbledon College of Arts.

To help make study easier to finance, UAL offers a range of scholarships, bursaries and awards generously donated by individuals, companies, philanthropic charities and the University. Hundreds of students each year are realising their creative potential at UAL thanks to funding.

Applications are now open for a range of funding opportunities, including the UAL Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarships, where eligible applicants can save 50% of Home/EU tuition fees on qualifying UAL masters courses starting in the 2016/2017 academic year. The programme will also grant ten international awards of £25,000 to help pay the tuition fees and costs associated with moving to and studying in the UK.

For MA Material Futures student Zannah Cooper, the Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship has helped her to pursue her creative ambitions. “The scholarship has been incredible,” Zannah says. “It has given me an opportunity to follow my future career goals which I would not have been able to do otherwise. It’s a gift which has changed my life.”

Zannah is studying at Central Saint Martins and is making the most of the creative freedom her course offers to challenge herself and explore new ventures. “I’ve never learnt so much in my life, and been so stretched and inspired.” See below for more accounts from UAL students who have benefited from a scholarship.

“I came to a point where I needed an MA in order to apply for the jobs I wanted. I found out about the scholarship at a UAL open day; it allowed me to take a step towards my goal to pursue a career in a subject I feel passionate about. It’s really changed my future prospects,” says Livi.

For people interested in applying she says: “Research which scholarships are available to you – some are course specific and some are open to everyone. All the information you need is available online. Also check the application deadlines and be organized.”

MA Visual Arts: Printmaking student Sebastian Thomas had initially ruled out the possibility of further study due to the financial burden. Finding out about the Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship encouraged him to re-think his decision. “I have always been on a low income as I am self-employed and so there would have been no way that I could afford to pay the tuition fees without the scholarship,” he says. “I wanted to do my MA in London at the heart of the UK art scene and be part of the networked postgraduate community that UAL offers. The scholarship and the MA will allow me to become a more skilled professional within my field and thus greatly increase my potential for success in later life.”
