Like spindle-legged tripods emerging from some sci-fi netherworld, Valentin Loellmann’s latest collection teeters between aesthetic and unnerving. Each piece stands as a unique character on its own (while all managing to look like something Tim Burton might stash his socks in.) The German furniture maker is quick to note his work is built around “the idea of the family,” and while this is definitely no bread-and-butter nuclear clan, it’s their collective oddness which gives the work a cohesive vision.
