– How do you feel about click bait and the Mr Kipling rebrand? We discussed both alongside some less useful cultural observations on this week’s podcast.

– Our Friday Mixtape comes courtesy of the lady with the hair, Ella Eyre. And a very good one it is too!

– Jim’ll Paint It, Anthony Burrill and Top Trumps all feature in this week’s Things.

– In the Opinion piece, we consider the cultural implications of a possible UK/Scotland divide, and it consists of much more than just delicious marshmallowy treats.

– It was the turn of _Vice_’s European managing editor Bruno Bayley to share the contents of his bookshelf with us this week, and my God is it a good one.

By far the thing I enjoyed most this week was a Tweet from @cluedont with this comment purportedly from Jurassic Park on YouTube. Has basically been making me laugh for five days now.

“GOOOOO AWAY! THIS IS MYYYYYY STRIPE!”

James Cartwright

I like the UK plenty. It’s a nice place to live, the people are usually pretty friendly and the climate is temperate. That’s really all I need to thrive. But then 800 of my countrymen complained to Ofcom (Britain’s media watchdog) about a reality TV show in which contestants compete to be the best baker of that year. Their cause for complaint? That a sweet old woman intentionally sabotaged the chances of a young man to win this year’s contest. As a result that sweet old lady has left the competition. And I’m thinking about leaving the country. Get a bloody grip people!

The Style Rider: “I don’t think he spoke much English so I didn’t really talk to him, but he was really proud of his bike and was happy to pose with it”

Maisie Skidmore

Simple but incredibly pleasing, The Style Rider is a blog which documents the various wheels people use to travel around New York. This friendly-looking bloke is probably my personal fave.

After discovering the delights of the Butcher’s Apron at this week’s Nicer Tuesday, I’ve spent a fair bit of audio time on their site. I love how they overlay their tracks with atmospheric sound and enjoyed this track the most, of author J.G. Ballard talking about the imagination, set to twinkly notes which remind me of the song at the start of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Hope it inspires your imagination for this weekend!
