Weekender: Come on you old trouts, it's Weekender time! Let's be appalling...
Friday has rolled across our hearts like a silky jazz vocal on a hackneyed-yet-tearjerking love song. Know what i mean? Well you shouldn’t do – I’m talking utter nonsense. It was a trick! Hahahahahaha….hey wait! Come back, I’m sorry! Ok let’s start over. Pray silence, for The Weekender…
6. Hats? Are you off your head?
Maiko Takeda’s amazing millinery skills are well worth checking out – Bjork wears them but would you?
5. It does exactly what it says on the tin
Julian Capelle kicked off this week and his Looking for graphic things project plays out exactly as you’d expect.
4. Mag geekery of the week
The Spectator is in the process of digitising its entire archive dating back to the 1820s – a must-see for anyone interested in design, magazines, history etc
3. Summer is naughty – PROOF
Joseph Mann has a slightly NSFW animation which celebrates summer and naked japes. It’s aces.
2. It’s just like being there
Kyle Platts tickled us all sorts of pink with his brilliant festival-themed publication, capturing perfectly the joy/horror of the annual summer migration to Glastonbury and the like.
1. Art you can climb on. Sweet.
Tomás Saraceno has only gone and done it again. In Orbit is a mindbending interactive installation in Germany.
What do you most look forward to on a Friday afternoon — a nice cold post-work beer? Putting your feet up and popping the telly on? Or is it scrolling through this unbelievably exciting collection of things that we have for you to lay your eyes upon? Of course. I knew it. Go right ahead. They’re all yours…
Lee Noble and No Kings Records
It’s not often we receive a bundle of cassette tapes and vinyl over at It’s Nice That, so the fact that these came so wonderfully packaged made them completely irresistible to us. Look at the artwork on those cassettes! And the spirographs on people’s faces! Lovely jubbly!

Michael Heilgemeir: The Nomadic Studio
There’s undoubtedly something fascinating about taking a look at the studio space that artists create their masterpieces in, and Michael Heilgemeir’s The Nomadic Space makes for a particularly interesting read. This lovely book takes a closer look at the relationship between art, the artist, and the space in which they create it, focusing on the temporary urban space.

Hitchhiker’s Galaxy
The lovely traveller types who sent us this project undertake a “mission” each summer, in which they travel all over Europe. Their routine is to take polaroids in each city, draw them, find a space in which to exhibit them that evening and then hitchhike onto the next place the following morning, thereby relying on the hospitality of strangers for every stage of their journey. The fact that they call these trips “missions” only makes them more fun in our eyes.

Viewport Magazine #2
Viewport Magazine is a veritable feast of architecture, design and travel, covering all kinds of fun and interesting bits and pieces. We were particularly taken with the hand-made vessels by Daniel:Emma which adorned the cover of this issue; there’s nothing like a nice collection of multi-coloured pots to hook you into a magazine, eh?

Aperture #211
Aperture have been around for longer than your average photography magazine — for 211 issues, no less! — so it’s no surprise that they’ve got the quality of their content down to a fine art. This issue continues their dedication to considering the representation of the photographic image within our society and those that have gone before us (and there are a bunch of beautiful pictures to gaze at within its pages, too).

Hilarious anti-Glastonbury article of the week
“The weather continues to be neither pleasant nor entertainingly awful and booths have been set up to help people cope with the realisation they have paid the price of a holiday in Tuscany to camp in a farm whilst listening to XFM.” The Daily Mash have done it again.
