What's On: Places, Strange and Quiet

Date
19 April 2011

Now showing at the Haunch of Venison, Places, Strange and Quiet is a large-scale photographic exhibition and visual culmination of nearly 30 years, depicting a “sense of place for things that are out of place” by renowned filmmaker Wim Wenders. On show are perspectives that typify his films, notably Paris, Texas or The American Friend, where the often bleak landscapes hold a queerly iridescent presence on screen. Crucial insights to be had for cineastes though the images are quite beautiful enough as artworks in their own “strangely quiet, or quietly strange” resonance.
