What's On: Robin Rhode: Variants

Date
16 June 2011

South African artist Robin Rhode returns to the White Cube Hoxton Square to showcase Variants – five beautiful animations and photographs inspired by the creations of two celebrated geniuses: Gerrit Rietveld and Blaise Pascal. The former famous for his incredible chair design, the latter for… maths (see pascals triangle). Funny, poignant and aesthetically extremely cool, the animations (inspired by Rietveld) show men battling with furniture and instruments on a bright, bare street. Although the underlying themes are destruction, the pieces are friendly and tie in wonderfully with the set of math themed photographs in the upstairs space.
