A textural high courtesy of some psychedelic kittens from William Selden and Gary Card

Date

Fashion and editorial photographer William Selden’s latest collaborative series with set designer Gary Card for Ponystep Magazine turns their combined alien eye for tone and depth on two seemingly random things; a kitten and iridescent plastic.

The combination of the two is a textural high – a study in colour and surface and light, the way the kittens fur absorbs it and the plastic refracts it. The psychedelic over tones and cutesy appeal is disarmingly aesthetic and, even if cats are the techno meme of the millennium, Gary and William’s strange kitten portraits are pretty (in all senses of the word) damn special.
