Graphic Design: Two students create secret signage for criminals

Here at It’s Nice That we get to see graphic design aimed at various sections of society, from trendy beardies to middle-aged mums. But we don’t post an awful lot of design aimed at the criminal fraternity…until now. William Slocombe and Sam Brogan are second year graphic and media design students at London College of Communications and one of their projects Signage System is a method of communication for mafiosi types in and around south London. It works by printing messages in negative type which criminals can read using a positive overlay iPhone app. Clearly tongue-in-cheek, the work nevertheless explores communication in an interesting and unusual way. We’ll be keeping our beady eyes on this pair over the coming years.
