Some of the patterns that make up the make-up of Bethan Laura Wood’s objects and environments remind me of processed meat. Or the flooring in tube trains and buses, or chip board, or the rock display at all good natural history museums – they are also, undeniably, quite beautiful. As important, Wood’s is a portfolio of great 3D designs, some of which carry the patina of something that, at one time, would be considered mundane. The product and furniture of WOOD London holds onto the elements of our existing environments that would have otherwise been forgotten, re-contextualising them as jewel-like features.
