Perhaps because he loves print, or maybe simply because it looks ace, London-based designer Xavier Antin has created a composite printer in four parts, from which he has produced an insanely limited edition run of books. Seamlessly combining a stencil duplicator from 1880, a spirit duplicator from 1923, a laser printer from 1969, and an inkjet from 1976, Antin has brought small- and large-scale production together to reveal, he says, “the two sides of the same history.” This is a project in which art is used to produce more art, and should therefore be celebrated.
