Yoshi Sodeoka

Date
3 January 2012

“Psychedelic” would be the operative word in describing the eyeball-melting quality of Yoshi Sodeoka’s off-kilter video pieces, glitch graphics and abstract installations. Initially introduced to us by HORT, the work hails 1970s progressive rock and shamanistc rituals among its inspirations (see the cerebral Violent Dark Spring of the Numinous Orb for a visual representation). Sodeoka creates incredibly complex, technically masterful artworks that go some way in simulating/inducing a hallucination – particularly the simpler GIF Psychedelica works (pictured) which carry a flashing-blinking warning, FYI.
