Jon Klassen
Guest Posting 20 April – 24 April 2009
Jon grew up in Ontario, Canada, and went to animation school at Sheridan College just outside Toronto. He’s lived mostly on the west coast of America since then, working at animation studios that were nice enough to give him work visas and currently works at one of these in Los Angeles. He also has two cars that, combined, are worth less than a nice bicycle. A true professional and always a joy to work with, Jon Klassen will no doubt establish himself as one of the best out there.
What have you got planned this week?
Try and finish reading “Blood Meridian”, but I will probably not do this, because I found this other book called “The Uses of Enchantment” about why children relate to fairy tales. There is a lot less scalping of Mexicans in the new book.
What do your parents think you do?
They think I can do anything. I have very good parents.
Who do you look like?
I like Pieter Breughel (the elder), Harry Nilsson, Burl Ives, and Stanley Kubrick. I like more people than that, too.
What’s your favourite sense?
Sight. I was going to try and do an unexpected answer, but i just can’t.
Tell us something people don’t know about you…
I have never seen ‘Risky Business’.
Did your education count?
Kind of. It got me out of the house.
What word can’t you spell?
‘Colour’, apparently. The americans took out the ‘u’, but i’m holding on to it while i’m here.
Tell us a good fact
Palm trees are not native to California.
What’s Next?
I need new pants.
What’’s your ‘Plan B’?
Astronomy.
