Graduates 2009

1 May - 30 June 2009

Graduates 2009 is the first installment of our annual feature pinpointing the most exciting creative graduates from all over the world. Represent have been keen supporters of graduates over the last 6 years, and this year they kindly supported us in our search for the most talented creatives leaving university in the summer of 2009.

Running for the duration of June 2009, we searched for and posted one graduate portfolio every single day, coinciding with the busy final show calendar. In the posts we looked at the chosen graduates portfolio a little more fully, as well as asking them a few questions about what they do. We’re now left with 20 outstandingly talented individuals, for you to browse through. Here there is also a directory of all the degree shows that took place in the summer of 2009.

We will be running the feature again next year, so please do keep your eye on the blog for more information next summer.

Lizzy’s work stood out to us for it’s wonderful composition and charm. Originally having studied Fine Art and transferred to illustration at Edinburgh College of Art, we think she made a good choice. While scouring sites and shows for our Graduates feature, we sometimes come across someone’s work that absolutely has to be included. Sroop Sunar falls firmly into this category.

Genuinely stunning and refreshing screen printed illustrations with more personality than you can shake a stick at. I urge you to look through the lot. A really mature and astute use of colour as well as a visual wit that would make so many very jealous. (read more)

Gareth has a painfully bad fear of spiders and deep water, and rates Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ as the number 1 album in the world. What better grounding for a graphic designer entering the industry?
