Annie Leibovitz: Theresa May shoot for US Vogue

US Vogue has revealed the results of Annie Leibovitz’ photoshoot with British prime minister Theresa May. The feature was announced in January, when the shoot had already taken place at the PM’s country retreat, Chequers. At the time it was said to be the cover of the April 2017 issue, but instead Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott’s photograph of Selena Gomez has taken its place.

The released photos show an austere Theresa May dressed all in dark blue in the traditional interior, and a more casual shot of her walking with her husband. Known for her photos of world leaders and celebrities alike, Leibovitz’ shots appear to be more natural and less dramatic than many of her best-known shots, appearing to depict the prime minister in a more personable light.
