New film spotlights ridiculousness of asking for non-design services "on spec"

A new video, #saynotospec, highlights the ludicrous nature of spec work by showing how other industries respond to being asked to provide services free of charge. We watch our protagonsist trying to buy things like coffee, breakfast and the services of a personal trainer “on spec.” Unsurprisingly, everyone refuses. The video was made by Zulu Alpha Kilo. The agency says: “Architects don’t give away their blueprints. Diners don’t fork out free meals. Personal trainers don’t sign over their intellectual property on spec. This video pokes fun at the speculative creative bidding process in new business pitches. We believe there’s a better way for agencies and clients to find the perfect match.”
