Tenth edition of the New York Art Book Fair opens at MoMA PS1

Date
18 September 2015

The New York Art Book Fair, now in its tenth year, opened last night at MoMA PS1. Founded by artists’ books organisation Printed Matter’s then director, artist A A Bronson, the fair hosts close to 400 booksellers and artists from 28 countries, including Études , Draw Down Books , Werkplaats Typografie , Nieves and the Archive of Modern Conflict .

There’s a variety of small press’ as well as antiquarian dealers with out-of-print books and ephemera to get your hands on, plus Friendly Fire, their area devoted to the intersection of art and activism.

Printed Matter has been engaged in the dissemination, understanding and appreciation of artists’ books and their social and political context since their establishment in 1976 by artists Sol Lewitt and Lucy Lippard. At this year’s fair those themes are explored in The Classroom, a curated series of talks and workshops as well as at their conference on contemporary artists’ books and emerging practice.
