D&AD Student Awards
March – July 2013

In 2012 we were invited by leading design and advertising body D&AD to set a brief for their prestigious Student Awards. We worked closely with them to write a brief that was both creatively interesting and rooted in real world It’s Nice That considerations; our brief asked the students to look at new ways we could engage with the student audience both at home and abroad.

Thousands of students downloaded the It’s Nice That brief and dozens submitted entries to the judging panel, on which two senior members of staff sat and helped pick the eventual Yellow Pencil winner. This accolade went to Thomas Fitzmaurice of Coventry University who proposed repurposing an ice cream van to make it a mobile screenprinting unit and touring universities spreading the word about It’s NIce That.
