A Nice Idea Every Day

Guest Posting 31 May - 4 June 2010

A Nice Idea Every Day is German creative duo Vivien Weyrauch and Fabian Röttger. Residing in Berlin, they have worked together since 2007 and originally studied cinematography, quickly becoming more interested in directing their our own work, inspired by their love of pop-music and films.

They are passionate about photography and use it as a tool to quickly sketch out and realise ideas, but are equally at ease developing more complex concepts. Their work is predominantly about ideas and emotions and are constantly looking to create something that both surprises and moves the viewer.

What have you got planned this week?

V: Making costumes for our new video.
F: Lots of pre–production for a music–video.

What do your parents think you do?

V: Fake it as if they understand what we’re doing.
F: My older brother is a graphic designer, so I think they kind of know what I do.

Who do you look like?

V: Mickey Green.
F: Like my older brother.

What’s your favourite sense?

V: Smell / hear are competing
F: Sight

Tell us something people don’t know about you…

V: I dream a lot
F: I eat way to much candy!

Did your education count?

V: It helped.
F: Yes!

What word can’t you spell?

V: Paleonthologist, but I think that’s probably right…
F: Lots of words: especially E–S–P–E–C–I–A–L–L–Y.

Tell us a good fact

V: Boeings only have 2×600W headlights to see, that’s kind of low-budget.
F: Stanley Kubrick used some of this room’s floors solely for his collections of newspaper cutouts and often forgot if the front or the back was meaningful to him.

What’s Next?

We are currently looking for a representation of our video work.

What’’s your ‘Plan B’?

V: Whatever we decide…
F: I don’t think we have one, do we?

There’s nothing more relaxing than a weekend with the whole collection of Tin Tin books by Belgium comic writer and artist Hergé. We’d be fools to make any recommendations here because, you already know, they’re all great!

    Tobias Roettger

Tobias is not only a great graphic designer, but also happens to be Fabian’s older brother. Working full–time at HORT he still manages to do lots of solo work for almost every client there is.

  • À bout de souffle

We have decided to close this guest post week with one of our all-time favourites,
À bout de souffle, directed by Jean–Luc Godard and written by François Truffaut. It’s one of those few cutting–edge master pieces that changed filmmaking forever.
