Film: Celebrating E Pellicci, a London caff which has been in one family for 100 years!

Date

The second of our five day celebration of 32LDN – a brilliant 32-part series of films devoted to London’s 32 boroughs – takes us to Bethnal Green’s famed cafe E Pellicci, which has been in the Pellicci family for over 100 hundred years.

Nevio Pellicci, the grandson of the original Italian founders, tells the story of the grade two listed caff, with its opulent wood-panelled interior, eclectic customers (the Kray brothers are said to have dropped for their breakfast every morning) and its unrivalled community atmosphere. His charismatic Italian-Cockney approach to storytelling and the sheer number of tales he has to tell make Nev an irresistible character to watch, while Rick Stanton captures the charm of the place with his own eclectic and unassuming visual language.

Stay tuned for more of the brilliant London-centric films this week!
