Arcin Sagdic: Numero Homme Berlin

We first tripped across Arcin Sagdic’s photography earlier this year. Now, he is back with a cover story for Numero Homme Berlin which was born out of a tangled ball of philosophical musings which have occupied the London-based photographer in recent years.

“I am trying to communicate the transience of things in life. Even though people are moaning for deeper sense, it’s being missed where ever you look. Mankind expects things to be twice or more times due the inexperience of shortage. Perhaps a decadency of our generation. Things seem to be same but they ain’t. Only by looking closer will you notice.”

A visceral bundle of transparent plastic mummified around male bodies, flushed skin and bloodshot eyes, Arcin tells us that the story Numero Homme Berlin is “about several thoughts I’ve had during the years that fuse to one in the end.”

For a fashion editorial, Arcin’s approach is unconventional. “Maybe it’s a desperate trial to wake people up to focus again,” he reasons. “I try to generate a cryptic language by wrapping the content into distractingly beautiful boys and monotonic crops and of course plastic. The thought was about plastic beauties — and one step further — beauty bred in laboratories. We are in the age of cultured meat, things are changing so rapidly.”
