Christian Patterson: Redheaded Peckerwood

Date
9 January 2012

In 1957, teenagers Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate murdered 11 people in a bloody, rebellious road trip. Years later, photographer Christian Patterson has interpreted these gruesome acts into a photo-book that combines archival images of the teenagers with his own photography which, throughout the book, narrates their murderous tale. Accompanied by texts by Karen Irvine and Luc Sante, this book is a perfect example of someone using photography theory and practice to inform on a fascinating emotional and factual level.
