It's Nice That: Field Trip

Date
23 June 2011

We launched the inaugural It’s Nice That Field Trip last week, and are now unveiling the full line-up of exciting creatives running workshops and giving talks across the three-day event. You have until the 7th July to apply (but be quick, spaces are limited and response has been good!) Read on for more details…

Field Trip is a platform for a unique, creative learning experience. The three-day event (held at the Rag Factory, just off Brick Lane, in London’s thriving East End) offers the opportunity to discover new processes, to work in different ways, and to generate bold, new ideas. Encompassing engaging workshops, talks, and an innovative programme of activities, Field Trip is led by a whole host of inspirational creatives including Ritta Ikonen, Abake, Yuri Suzuki, Carl Burgess, Johnny Kelly and Marion Deuchars.

Workshop leaders:

Yuri Suzuki

Yuri is a designer, inventor, product designer and electronic music composer exploring sound, music and art in innovative, thought-provoking ways. Born in Japan, he studied in Tokyo before completing a masters at the RCA, and then an advanced studies course in augmented reality in Switzerland. Yuri has taught in both London and Japan, has run internationally-recognised workshops, and has also exhibited worldwide.

Riitta Ikonen

Riitta Ikonen is concerned with the performance of images through photography and costume design. A key element of her work is using design to create new experiences and interactions with our physical environment. Having studied Communication Art and Design, her humorous and playful work is recognised and celebrated internationally. She received the Helen Hamlyn Design for our Future Selves award. She divides her time working between London, New York and Scandinavia.

Åbäke

Åbäke is a design studio with fingers in many pies, making it really hard to describe what they do in a few words. Primarily a graphic design studio based in London, they relish collaborating with a wide spectrum of people and disciplines from musicians, to artists, architects, educational and cultural institutions. Other accolades include previously co-editing and designing the magazine, Sexymachinery; co-directing the oh-so-cool music and clothing label Kitsune; and their publishing platform Dent-de-Leone.
