Water. Paper. Two inherently incongruent media, no? Not necessarily, says Ingo Giezendanner, whose latest book Iskandariyah Skan was inspired by a ferry journey to Alexandria. While previous works primarily feature urban settings like Zurich, Islambad and New Orleans, his transition from cityscape to seascape is an elegant one and he says: “I wish to share the overwhelming experience of drawing the ocean.” Giezendanner’s website is also a cooperation between the active and the still _ combining ink drawings with animation to capture spaces in motion.
