Let me give you one of china’s not-so-well received, home grown (rare breed) directors – Jia ZhangKe – born, schooled and operating from China, he is known for his authentic, realist and nuanced style. Film still taken from Xiao Wu aka Pickpocket (1997). Other titles worth scouting out are Platform, Unknown Pleasure, The World and Still Life.
