Johan Rosenmunthe: Enlargements

Date
24 February 2012

It’s said (cliche alert!) that a picture is worth a thousand words, but this well-worn notion feels revived in Enlargements, a series from Johan Rosenmunthe that examines a photo’s capacity to hold innumerable stories in synchronicity, whether we realise it or not. It begins with one big shot of a Manhattan skyline before successively zooming, enlarging, and cropping different slices of the image, creating an eerie visual essay that leaves us wondering, among other things: “Is that nun going to jump?” Check out his website to see a multitude of equally fascinating photographic experiments.
