Things #9: With riso prints, a mixtape, a guide to eating and our brand spanking new address!
This week’s Things is brought to you from our glorious brand new studio! Not only does this mean that we now have far more places to put them, but we also have a new address, which is It’s Nice That, 21 Downham Road, London N1 5AA, so please be sure not to send any of your nice stuff to our old one!
Onwards then, and this week’s collection includes a guide to eating in London, a yellow mixtape, a huge book about design, a series of lovely riso prints and a fancy schmancy CV the likes of which we’ve never ever seen. Enjoy!
Work-Form: Original Risographies
Original Risographies is a new publication designed, produced and published by Work-Form and Studio Operative, and it was created as an investigation into ways in which the Riso RP 3700 could be used to make new images, rather than recreate old ones. The book contains 56 images with a detailed explanation as to how each one was made, and it’s a mighty fine collection of experimental printing.

Lewis James Atkins: CV
We’ve seen CVs in all different kinds of guises; cakes, animated games, skywriting (not really), but this one from Lewis James Atkins is an especially nice example for its neat simplicity. As you unroll the scroll from the wooden block that houses it you’re advised to continue to a Vimeo link, which delivers instructions on how to create your own digital interactive Moiré image on your smartphone. You can see part two, plus Lewis’ portfolio and more information about what he does, over on his website.

Allan Chochinov and Eric Ludlum: Designing Here/Now
There’s something inexplicably satisfying about a glossy, heavy design publication – the knowledge that it is just waiting for you to glean from it, the rewarding thud as you plop it down – and this new one from Thames & Hudson, Designing Here/Now, is an especially good example. The book contains an impressive survey of the most innovative design objects invented over the past five years, providing an insight into design via the Core77 Design Awards. Lovely stuff.

Kyle Pellet: Mixtape
Kyle Pellet is one of our absolute favourite illustrators so when he got in touch to tell us that he’d illustrated the cassette jacket for his good friend Hank Richardson’s new musical release we were eager to get our hands on it. You can download the music from the cassette at Suitor’s Club Records, which we would heartily advise.

Herb Lester: A World of Eating: London
We quite like London and we really like eating, so it makes perfect sense that Herb Lester’s handy amalgamation of the two appealed to our simple minds. It’s a map-come-guide to our lovely capital’s diverse eateries, ranging from Greek and Jewish food to Antipodean, Polish and Caribbean cuisine.
