Afropunk festival is looking for artists to contribute to new zine Black and Now: RESIST

The team at Afropunk, the multidisciplinary festival which began in Brooklyn in 2005 and has since spread to four sites across the globe, are looking for contributors for a new publication set to coincide with the forthcoming week-long London instalment.

Produced in collaboration with Brixton gallery space, 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning, and titled Black and Now: RESIST, the goal of the zine is to gather emerging black artists to respond to black British resistance – past, present, and future.

In addition to poetry, think pieces, and self-care recipes, the Afropunk team are looking for thematically appropriate contributions from photographers, illustrators, and artists. Anyone interested in submitting work would do well to zip down south of the river this coming Saturday (4th August) where the Afropunk team will be hosting a zine making workshop.

Black and Now: RESIST will be available to purchase at this year’s Afropunk: London, which takes place 1-6 September in various venues across Brixton.
