Etsy’s step-by-step guide eliminates the hassle of setting up your own shop

If you’re a creative who makes lots of things like prints, ceramics, jewellery or clothes, but have no where to sell them, you might have already considered creating an online shop to get a bit more exposure.

While we all want to be seen as web savvy millennials, sometimes the thought of setting something up as big as a shop can be a daunting process. To help with the process, Etsy has just launched Etsy Resolution, a global programme to help potential creative entrepreneurs to launch their own independent business online.

The idea is to assist prospective retailers through the process of opening an Etsy shop, using a simple step-by-step guide. At the end of the three week course, participants will have all the knowledge they need to open a shop reaching a potential 24 million shoppers around the world. Even if you’ve already set up shop on Etsy and it lacks the pizzazz you hoped it would have, this course will also help revitalise dormant accounts with handy tips.

Topic covered in the guide include; what to sell on Etsy, how to shoot great product photography, the key to engaging product listings, tips for getting found by shoppers, how to market your shop and a guide to shipping.

Etsy Resolution is a free programme delivered by email and it starts Monday 30 January 2017. Throughout the course, participants will have access to local mentors who are already Etsy sellers wth established businesses, and they’ll be on hand to offer advice, support and answer any questions you may have.

There’ll also be specific Etsy Resolution Facebook groups available in countries all over the world including; UK, USA, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. These groups will provide further opportunity to connect with local sellers and tap into their experience.

Karli Dendy, Brighton Etsy Team leader and one half of jewellery business Designosaur is supporting the Etsy Resolution campaign and has been a part of the community for several years. “We started our own Etsy shop almost five years ago and it catapulted us to where we are now with 10,000 views throughout our shop on the first day! We’ve gone from strength to strength [from] being in Etsy’s first TV ad to being part of its pop-up shop in Covent Garden – the opportunities have been incredible.”

To be a part of the Etsy Resolution course, participants must sign up and register before Friday 27 January. For more information about the programme click here.
