The Lisson Gallery has announced the release of Artist, Work, Lisson documenting the history and legacy of the gallery as a celebration of its 50th anniversary. Under the art direction of Dutch designer Irma Boom, the publication features an A-to-Z of every artist who has ever had a solo show during this time and will be available from October.

Running at over 1,000 pages the book encompasses the work of artists such as Marina Abramovic, Ai Weiwei and Fred Sandback with a double page spread dedicated to each show. Each of these spreads includes a short narrative, notable review or previously published extract by writers including Stuart Morgan and Okwui Enwezor. As well as this the book features a host of sketches, hand-drawn layouts for catalogues, installation instructions and postcards from artists addressed to the gallery’s founder Nicholas Logsdail. On top of the visual and written material from the artists themselves, the book includes a number of short essays by Logsdail and other members of the gallery.

The cover of the book has been specially designed by Daniel Buren with a piece entitled Coloured Ink on Transparent Sheet, work in situ. There will also be limited edition covers featuring the work of over 30 artists.

The 50th anniversary of the gallery will also be marked by a major exhibition opening on 5 October and running until 10 December. Everything at Once will feature the work of 24 artists including Anish Kapoor, Richard Deacon and Cory Arcangel. The exhibition will be held at The Store Studios, 180 The Strand which last year played host to The Infinite Mix: Contemporary Sound and Image.
