Mario Testino guest edits Vogue Netherlands Art Special with Rijksmuseum archive

Date
27 June 2017

Mario Testino has guest edited Vogue Netherlands’ latest Art Special, working with the Rijksmuseum to curate a feature combining historical and modern images with his own work.

In conjunction with the museum’s recently opened New Realities: Photography in the 19th century exhibition, Mario selected archival images from the show and interspersed them with his own photographs for the issue.

“Knowing history is essential to understanding the pictures of now,” he comments on the collaboration. “This exhibition reminds me how important it is to look back.” The Peruvian photographer has a long history of working with Vogue internationally, and has shot more than 60 British Vogue covers over 20 years.

The Art Special also features an interview with Dutch photography collector and filmmaker Jan de Bont, and an article on Jean Dubuffet’s influence on fashion. The supplement is part of Vogue Netherlands’ summer issue, out now. New Realities is open until 17 September 2017.
