Mother London creates fowl mouthed apology advert for KFC

Date
23 February 2018

The great KFC chicken shortage of 2018 has been a national news story, with even Huw Edwards on the BBC News at Ten having to introduce reports on the crisis. Today, the fast food chain took full page ads in The Sun and Metro newspapers to apologise for the shortage.

Created by Mother London the ad rejigs the KFC logo to read “FCK” and includes an apology and a message thanking chicken lovers for “bearing with us”. It then directs readers to it’s Crossed the Road microsite that offers more information.

The shortage was caused by a change in the delivery supplier on the 14 February, with “operational issues” resulting in the disruption to deliveries and the closure of most of the UK branches. Currently around 700 of the 900 UK restaurants have reopened.
