Museum of London to launch year-long season of events about London life

Date
5 May 2017

The Museum of London is to launch a new after-hours programme of exhibitions, creative commissions, large-scale public events, talks and debates around life in London today. City Now City Future will bring together London-based artist and community projects to explore “what it means to live in a truly global city”.

The programme, which will run for one year, will encompass workshops, music, film and creative activity investigating fashion, style, food, music and film.

City Now City Future will launch on Friday 19 May across the Museum of London with music, art and activities by Reprezent 107.3FM, Cut Festival, OOMK Collective, Nina Manandhar, Mazí Mas and Jasleen Kaur. New displays and “experiences” will also be launched around the Museum during the evening.

Photographer Nina Manandhar explains that “my contribution will feature a reel from a new project I’m working on called Music Video Tour Bus, a journey through London via iconic music videos set in the city. From Skepta to SL2, Blur to Bowie, the selection will explore how artists from across the genres and generations have used the city streets as the backdrop to their audio visuals to make a cultural stamp. I’m really excited to screen a newly restored version of 90’s Flowered Up classic Weekender alongside Gaika’s Security.” See stills selected by Nina for the upcoming event, below.
