Superimpose hosts Perspectives 001: Post Truth, inviting you to trust nothing and question everything
Perspectives is the next series in Superimpose Studio’s ongoing project, Services Unknown which looks to open the discussion around key themes and subjects that influence and shape the development of creativity, community and society. Initially starting a debate around the topic of mimicry in the creative world, Services Unknown’s first creative showcase is a visual exploration into the polarity between perceived truth and factual evidence and is entitled Perspectives 001: Post Truth. The exhibition is being hosted at The 100 Room at The Rooftop Ace Hotel, London, tonight.
Defining post truth as “beyond or superseding the importance of truth; pertaining to an era or situation when truth is no longer significant or relevant; usually in a pejorative sense, uncaring of factual accuracy,” the exhibition encourages you to trust nothing and question everything. It presents Superimpose’s view of what is happening in the world through artistic escape, however they warn that “it could be real, or it could have been fabricated by us…”
The studio has turned The 100 Room into a creative space showcasing various form of art and design including graphics, fabrics, animation, photography and sound championing the studio’s belief in “honesty and imagination as creators and contributors to the evolution of visual culture.” Creative director and co-founder of Superimpose, Toby Evans, told us how “with free and informed thought under attack we have a responsibility to create spaces where the open flow of ideas is nurtured. As individuals, we refuse to lay silent and passive to what is going on locally and globally. Together as an agency, it’s clear that important subjects transcend into our work. We want to have an open conversation about what is impacting us and above all, to show we are here with meaning.”
