NYC gallery the New Museum to curate film and video exhibition at The Store X 180 The Strand

London gallery The Store X is collaborating with New York’s the New Museum for an exhibition dedicated to radical film and image-makers. Strange Days: Memories of the Future, which will run at The Store X’s Brutalist home 180 The Strand between 2 October – 9 December, will showcase some of the most important work exhibited at the Manhattan gallery since it opened ten years ago.

The show has been curated by Massimiliano Gioni, the Edlis Neeson artistic director at New Museum in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory. By arranging the works into large-scale installations throughout 180 The Strand, Strange Days aims to “weave images and sounds into polyphonic, dreamlike compositions, blending the present with memories of the past and premonitions of the future”. Although the artists involved are currently under wraps, it will be the first time that many of the video and film works will be seen in the UK. “All of these artists have shifted the ways we think about images and memory by recasting their individual experiences and visions alongside speculations on what the future may hold,” Gioni added.

Strange Days is the third major show commissioned by The Store X The Vinyl Factory. Its first, The Infinite Mix was a collaboration with the Hayward Gallery in 2016, whereas the Lisson Gallery partnered with the cultural platform for 2017’s Everything at Once.
