The xx are to curate a series of events for Copenhagen’s inaugural International Documentary Film festival taking place from 15 — 25 March 2018. The events, including film screenings and Q&As, will explore themes of “identity, gender, performance, youth culture and LGBTIQ issues”.

Titled I See You after the band’s third record released last year, The xx’s curation includes Kim Longinotto’s films on the role of gender in Japan, director Matt Wolf’s documentary on musician Arthur Russell, and will open with a screening God’s Own Country by Francis Lee and Landline by Matt Houghton on 17 March. Further scheduled events include Wu Tsang’s film Wilderness, Christo Geoghegan and Adri Murguia’s film Young and Gay: Jamaica’s Gully Queens depicting “an exploration of Jamaica’s homeless LGBTI community,” and Charlie Lyne’s visual collage of 200 teen classics in Beyond Clueless, to name just a few.

Oliver Sim of The xx has taken the lead in curating I See You saying: “I’m excited to show some of my favourite films and documentaries in Copenhagen. These films mean so much to me on a personal level, but at the same time touch on so many of the issues, narratives and passions that are so important to the band as a whole.”

The full schedule for the documentary festival is available here and tickets for I See You will be available from 16 February.
