Studio Thirst visualises taste for American brewery Commonwealth

Studio Thirst has collaborated with Virginia-based brewery, Commonwealth Brewing Co to design packaging for a range of their beverages.

The Glasgow-based studio joined forces with the American brewery when owner Jeramy Biggie assigned the team a simple brief, “I want to be able to visually see the flavours that I taste in the can”. The result is a design that mirrors marble-like techniques of printing, representing the “four beers in the core series, each of them unique and bursting with flavour,” says Craig Black, lead designer at Thirst.

To create this effect the studio “photographed textures of different oils, vinegars and inks interacting on a plate at a macro level”. The studio then edited the photographs “to shop deep rich colours that had depth and intrigue that requires exploration, much like the beers”.

Thirst’s design launched at Commonwealth Brewing’s home in Virginia this week.
