Zaha Hadid Architects: 666 Fifth Avenue

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) has released images of a supertall skyscraper proposed for Midtown Manhattan. The project is sited at 666 Fifth Avenue, currently occupied by a 1950s office building, and is being developed by Kushner Companies – owned by the family of Jared Kushner, senior advisor to Donald Trump and husband to the president’s daughter.

The new design replaces the existing aluminium-clad tower, designed by architects Carson and Lundin in 1957, and will add 40 storeys that will house luxury apartments, a hotel and around 500,000 square feet of retail space. The project is estimated to cost $12 billion.

The project is expected to start on site in 2019 and be completed by 2025 if approval is granted.
