According to Wikipedia, Bach’s Cello Suites “are some of the most performed and recognisable solo compositions ever written for cello.” But whereas normal recitals involve the real-life musical instrument, tech whizz Alexander Chen recently created a digital alternative – an interactive visualisation made, he says, to highlight and explore the music’s “underlying structure and subtle shifts.” Chen reveals in-depth notes on string length, Pythagorean tuning and eight-tone patterns here – it’s well worth a look.
