Launch Recite Me assistive technology

Iris Van Herpen

Date
18 October 2011

Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen’s collections make me think of films which tried to predict what the future would look like – where cars fly, and robots rule. Well now we’re here and our tangible world is far less space-age than people imagined but Iris Van Herpen’s fashion portfolio is truly futuristic: combining intricate craftsmanship with the latest technologies (think 3D printing), material manipulation and innovation. It’s the kind of show-stopping couture Björk wears (check out her striking IVH dress on the Biophilia album cover) rather than something you’d pull on to go out and buy a pint of milk, but I’m sold.
