From psychedelic collage to saucy shorts, this Nicer Tuesdays has it all - get tickets now!

Date
14 June 2016

This month’s Nicer Tuesdays speakers are a diverse bunch, spanning animation, music videos, picture books and augmented reality. Get your tickets now for 28 June.

Oliver Jeffers is over from New York to tell us about his latest book, Imaginary Fred, a collaboration with Artemis Fowl author Eoin Colfer about a boy who wishes for an imaginary friend. The world renowned illustrator from Belfast, Northern Ireland is best known for his captivating picture books, including The Day the Crayons Quit, a number one New York Times bestseller, and Lost and Found, which was developed into a BAFTA-winning animation.

For Beck’s latest single Wow, Jimmy Turrell directed a surreal and psychedelic animated collage video in just eight days. Jimmy will be sharing behind-the-scenes insight into the whirlwind project, its trippy imagery and custom typography by Bráulio Amado, plus some collages that didn’t make the cut, and why.

Fresh from launching his AR Music Kit at Google I/O, sound artist and designer Yuri Suzuki will be sharing insights to the fun app, which allows anything to become a musical instrument. By adding augmented reality markers to objects — from tennis rackets to cardboard boxes — and syncing them with the app, the kit encourages musical experimentation with the simplest materials.

Private Parts, Anna Ginsburg’s cheeky animation for Channel 4’s Random Acts series, commissioned by It’s Nice That, caused quite a stir with our readers. The animator and filmmaker will be talking us through the hilarious and very NSFW short, which saw Anna interviewing people about female pleasure then animating them as talking genitals.

Tickets available now for Tuesday 28 June.
