Nick Lu's illustration demonstrates how to punch yourself in the face
Like so many great illustrators before him (Kelsey Dake and Ping Zhu to name just two) Nick Lu graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, before moving to LA to pursue a freelance career. His portfolio largely consists of witty editorial work composed using a variety of hand-rendered techniques, from simple paper-cut shapes and screen-printed textures to streaked brushwork and rough pencilled scribbles. Nick approaches illustration with a pleasing element of surrealism; why’s that guy’s hand-face punching him in the head? And what the heck are those golfers doing in that fishing boat? I don’t know, but I like it.
