Simon Monk: Secret Identity

Posted by James Cartwright,

Don’t worry, Spiderman hasn’t been trapped in a bag by the Orange Goblin and hung on a giant brass hook. It’s just a plastic toy Spiderman being lovingly displayed in dust-free surroundings and painted with precision detail by Simon Monk. Phew! Panic over. Simon’s paintings, entitled Secret Identity explore the incongruity between the epic nature of super-heroism and the inert and unimpressive nature of their plastic counterparts. The Hulk can’t smash anything in his polythene prison.
