David Shrigley, Antony Gormley and Bob and Roberta Smith to take part in Folkestone Triennial
Folkestone Triennial, the annual ambitious art exhibition has announced the artists participating in its fourth edition, titled Double Edge.
The artists participating in the 2017 exhibition include Rigo 23, Sol Calero, Michael Craig-Martin, Antony Gormley, Alex Hartley, Lubaina Himid, David Shrigley, Bob and Roberta Smith, among many more. Each of the artists involved will work on site-specific pieces in response “to the physical and conceptual context of Folkestone,” says the exhibition.
The title of this year’s exhibition Double Edge, “keys ambiguity first of all, and has two principal meanings following from that” says the exhibition’s curator Lewis Biggs. “The first is anxiety: the edge of the world, the edge of the future and the unknown. The second is the notion of balance released through the artist’s imagination when one tips over the edge and looks back on the known with a renewed perspective.”
Folkestone Triennial will take place 2 September – 5 November 2017.
