The editors of arts and culture magazine ALL-IN on their commendable first issue

ALL–IN is a biannual arts and culture publication edited by Benjamin Barron and Allison Littrell. Only in its first issue, ALL–IN has a stellar line-up including Chris Kraus, Dev Hynes, John Waters, Nathalie Du Pasquier and Willem Dafoe photographed wearing scuba shoes surrounded by lettuce.

Having met whilst studying at Bard College in New York the pair soon started working together with the intention of making a publication with longevity. Benjamin and Allison describe ALL–IN as being “about life… where it starts, ends and where we are now. Living in an increasingly digital society, life has become pushed further into dichotomies – we wanted to represent the grey area where polar states meet. ALL–IN is for everyone.”

With an incredible list of contributors born out of “reaching out to complete strangers, and finding out that other people wanted to work together,” when I asked Ben and Allison for their highlights they described it as akin to “choosing a favourite child.” With a push they pin-pointed the interview with Cory Arcangel, who Allison found was “fascinating [in his] comparison of his work work to that of an archeologist – [but] instead of dirt us[ing] the internet”, as well as the photo story with Ian Markell and conversations with John Waters and Dev Hynes. Ben described them both as “sincere, open people” highlighting one of Dev Hynes’ points as something he continues to return to: “I don’t know how to be bored. I don’t know how to be uninspired, because there’s just so much to do. There’s too much to do.” With a debut like this, we can’t wait to see what Ben and Allison do next.
