Amazing underwater photographs of grinning, swimming elephants by Claudia Legge

Date
14 May 2013

There can’t be many things more terrifying than swimming beneath the surface of the ocean alongside an enormous elephant with legs flailing at you from every direction and with enormous, yellowing tusks. Photographer Claudia Legge, however, bought an underwater camera case online and began shooting with it in the bath until she had the skills she needed to try deeper waters. Her shots of this particularly happy Indian elephant are a total triumph, and the fact that she manages to get that close shows bravery and skill of the highest order. She’s now got a similarly sub-aquatic show of her more recent underwater photography on at London’s Sheridan & Co. Worth a look if you’re in the area!
