The Design Museum has announced its 2015 Designers in Residence, which sees four young designers spend four months developing projects around the theme “migration.” They will work with industry figures and the museum itself to create work to be shown in an exhibition from September 2015. This year’s designers are architectural designer Chris Green, product designer Stephanie Hornig, interdisciplinary designer Hefin Jones and Alexa Pollmann, whose work explores the intersection of fashion and technology.
Chris is a graduate of the Royal College of Art’s Architecture MA, and creates work that “forges new relationships between people, technology and the city,” according to the Design Museum. Austrian graduate Stephanie has recently set up a London studio creating objects that look at how we use everyday objects and interact with the world around us.
Hefin’s previous projects include a campaign aiming to “launch ordinary people into outer space through finding a cosmic context for Welsh culture, skills and traditions” (which he spoke about at last July’s Nicer Tuesdays; while Alex, course leader of the Wearable Futures MA at Ravensbourne College, has created the Peut-Porter platform to deliver workshops and research narratives in fashion.
