In time for the Oscars, we take a look at Jeremy Liebman's shots of Hollywood stars

Date
26 February 2016

Taken for DuJour’s feature on 2015’s Defining Moments in Film, Jeremy Liebman’s photographs of the stars of the big screen include Harvey Keitel, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara and John Goodman amongst many others. The series has an interesting balance between candid and staged, lit often with a flash that highlights both the glitz and the flaws – of the actors and their surroundings.

The photographs were shot over the course of three months in New York, Toronto and Los Angeles in a variety of locations including studios, hotels and film festivals. Jeremy shot a mixture of 35mm and digital, “only having a couple of minutes with some subjects, while others gave [him] as much as an hour”. The contrasting atmosphere of caught moments in between and considered compositions makes for an interesting set, all backed up by the actors reflection on their most defining moments in film, as told to DuJour.
