Put simply, illustrator Luis Grañena (whose work regularly graces the pages of The New Yorker) mixes considerable craft with socio-political nous, a combination of skills that allows him to perfectly depict German chancellor Angela Merkel flexing economically influential muscle, for example, or economist Ben Bernanke struggling Atlas-like under the weight of the world.
