NIcky Carvell
Nicky Carvell’s sculptures are colourful – really, really colourful. In fact, a conservative viewer might go so far as to call them garish. But they’re not, they’re much too good for that. Built from composite layers of dibond and digital print her work renders the aesthetics of airbrush art and early 90s digital graphics into complex 3D structures that leap from their wall mounts, evoking a world of lurid suburban leisure centres and midlands bus tours. A lengthy browse through her portfolio also reveals a love of accident-prone boy band members. Bizarrely brilliant.
